Through quiet ways

Concept

For this large diptych I was inspired by images of mountains capped with snow and engulfed in the mist. To me mountains are like roots that tie me to earth, allowing me to look up at the sky. It's a great emotion of freedom, mirrored in the reflections of metallic colors and subtle gray-blue nuances. The texture is created with very sparse sand in the mid and bottom part of the painting, while I used paper in the top. This is my way to feel the presence of the sky, making it almost touchable.

Technique

The surface of this mixed media abstract work is created with sand and paper. It's then painted with acrylic colors, pearlescent pigments and satin varnish. Being richly textured, it gives the viewer both a visual and a tactile experience. Also, the metallic effects and the varnish allow the painting to shine in different ways depending on the light of the room.

Size and support

Size of the diptych: 45x60x0.1 inches - 114.3x152.4x0.3cm on aluminum Dibond board; size of each panel: 45x30x0.1 inches - 114.3x76.2x0.3 cm). It's signed on the back and can be hanged as it is or framed.
